Mini Rugby Aims:

The aim of mini Rugby at City of Derry RFC is to provide a fun introduction to the sport while developing the individual child in a safe and secure environment. Both boys and girls are welcome from primary 4 through to first year of Secondary school.

Rugby benefits children in a number of ways, it improves fitness and realises sporting potential, but just as importantly it develops confidence, self-discipline teamwork and social skills. Determination and courage are just as significant at this age as athletic ability and children of all shapes and sizes can compete equally; often those who don’t enjoy any other sport find their place on the rugby pitch.

The priority at City of Derry RFC is to involve and develop all the children who attend, and team performance and winning come second.

Children practice and compete in age group squads with qualified coaches. There are a number of home and away matches and tournaments throughout the season. See fixtures for more details.

Child Protection

The Club takes its responsibilities in the area of Child Protection very seriously and has a Child Protection Policy in place.

If any parent or youth, under 18 years, has any issues or concerns relating to their involvement in the club, such as bullying, harassment or any other inappropriate behaviour, they should contact the Child Protection Officer, David Orr, or any member of the Club Management.
